Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 21, 2026
True Colors ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information.
Photos & Images
When you take a selfie for color analysis, the image is sent to our AI service (powered by Anthropic's Claude) for processing. The image is used solely to determine your color analysis results and may be retained on Anthropic's servers for up to 7 days before being automatically deleted. We do not use your photos for training AI models or for any purpose other than providing your color analysis.
Face Data & AI Analysis
True Colors uses your device camera to capture a selfie for color analysis. Here is how your face data is handled:
- What is collected: Your selfie photo, used to analyze skin tone, hair color, and eye color.
- How it is used: Solely to determine your seasonal color type. It is not used for facial recognition, biometric identification, or any other purpose.
- Third-party processing: Your image is transmitted to Anthropic, PBC (anthropic.com) via their Claude API for analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy provides equivalent data protections and can be found at anthropic.com/privacy.
- Retention: Your photo is transmitted to Anthropic via their Claude API and may be retained on Anthropic's servers for up to 7 days before being automatically deleted. It is never used to train AI models.
- On-device storage: Your image is stored only on your device. You may delete your results at any time within the app.
- Consent: You are asked for explicit permission before any image is sent for analysis. You may decline at any time.
Data We Collect
- Color analysis results are stored locally on your device using SwiftData so you can view them later.
- Purchase information is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment details.
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA) — collected only with your explicit consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Used solely for advertising attribution.
- App usage events — such as app opens and purchases, sent to analytics and advertising partners in aggregate form.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or account information. There are no accounts to create.
Advertising & Tracking
With your permission, we may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. When you first open the app, you will be asked whether you allow tracking.
- If you allow tracking: Your advertising identifier may be shared with our advertising partners to measure ad performance and attribute app installs to specific campaigns.
- If you deny tracking: We do not collect your advertising identifier. Limited, privacy-preserving attribution may still occur through Apple's SKAdNetwork and Aggregated Event Measurement frameworks, which do not identify you personally.
- What is shared: App events such as installs, app opens, and purchases may be sent to our advertising partners for campaign measurement. These events do not include your photos, analysis results, or any personal content.
- You can change your choice at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g., which features are popular, crash reports). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Third-Party Services
